DAY 3
Engaging the Power of Driven Responsibility (Pt. 3)
Author: Divine Okorie, Chair
This weekend, we are looking at engaging the power of driven responsibility. Our focus for tonight is Exercising the Drive for Power.
Where does your drive for power come from? As said on Thursday, it comes from the ability to be patient. It does not come overnight. However, when you receive that drive for power, people just get demotivated and just not be committed to what they signed up for.
In order to be committed you must show interest in what you want to do. You cannot be committed if you are not interested. That does not get you places. At the same time, you also cannot go about this the wrong way. There are some people who want to go on "power-trips" - they have too much power and want to exercise it.
Despite this, power is a good thing when you understand what should be your portion. You never want to be seen as a person that overreaches their power, even in the real world. As not being interested, it does not get you places except being the most disliked person in the company.
As you continue through your weekend, don't power-trip, nor power-struggle, be balanced if you want to receive the drive for power.
