DAY 6
Understanding the Power of the 7-Fold Driven Mandates - Part II
Part 2 - Mandate for Leadership
Author: Divine Okorie, Chair
With every action, there is a mandate. An order to carry out that specific action. A driven mandate is a mandatory order, an order that you have to follow in order to succeed. In this week's teaching series, we will be looking at the power of the 7-fold driven mandates and each mandate in more detail.
Today's mandate is Leadership. This is the core idea of responsibility to guide people, shape direction, and mobilize collective effort towards lasting goals. It recognises progress rarely occurs out of the blue; it requires individuals who can provide vision, coordination, and accountability.
Leadership in this framework is not merely positional authority. It is the capacity to influence outcomes and motivate others to act effectively. Tonight, we will be looking at the pillars of the Leadership Mandate.
Direction Setting - Effective leadership begins by defining where a group or organization is going - whether it is identifying long-term goals, clarifying priorities or establishing measurable objectives. Without direction, activity becomes busy but unproductive.
Alignment - Once direction is clear, leadership ensures that people and resources work toward the same outcome. Alignment ensures that effort multiplies instead of competing.
Mobilization - Leadership activates people to act. It requires inspiring participation and removing barriers to action.
Consistency - As progress occurs, leadership must maintain consistency and resilience. This involves maintaining standards, addressing setbacks quickly, and protecting long-term objectives from short-term distractions.
When the leadership mandate is operating effectively, several patterns appear:
Clear understanding of goals across the group
Faster decision-making
Strong cooperation between individuals or teams
Sustained progress even during challenges
These signals indicate that leadership is actively guiding progress rather than reacting to problems. However, without this mandate, operations remain as slow as a snail and no progression is made.
Within the broader framework, the Leadership Mandate acts as the organizing force. While other mandates focus on transformation, development, or expansion, leadership ensures that: initiatives remain coordinated, objectives stay clear, and progress continues despite obstacles.
Tonight, let leadership be your new status. In essence, leadership converts potential into organized advancement.
