DAY 9
Understanding the Power of the 7-Fold Driven Mandates - Part V
Part 5 - Mandate for Vision
Author: Divine Okorie, Chair
With every action, there is a mandate. An order to carry out that specific action. A driven mandate is a mandatory order, an order that you have to follow in order to succeed. In this week's teaching series, we will be looking at the power of the 7-fold driven mandates and each mandate in more detail.
Today's mandate is Vision. This is the act of seeing, observing or perceiving. In the science of leadership, vision is often hailed as the cornerstone of achievement, the driving force behind progress, and the goalpost that guides individuals, teams, and organizations.
In reality, the concept of vision is a little more complicated than what many might think. Vision, at its core, is not merely about dreaming big; it is about defining a result. If done correctly, it defines “what success looks like when we get there.” However, while visions describe something currently intangible, they still must be rooted in some level of accuracy. Of course, even then, they require a basic understanding to ensure we are chasing the right kind of visions.
Tonight, we will be looking at the 3 branches of the Vision Mandate.
1. Individual Vision
Individual vision is the most agile and personal form of vision.
Goals and aspiration controlled by the individual
Adaptable for course correction
Able to pivot to new methods
The key strength of individual vision lies in its flexibility and alignment with personal values and motivations.
2. Shared Vision
Shared vision exists within groups, organizations, or communities where the collective effort drives success.
Resilient to changes in any one contributor’s circumstances
Embedded in the collective mission, values, and culture of the group
Achieving a shared vision also demands robust communication, alignment, and commitment from all participants.
3. Dependent Vision
Dependent vision is the most precarious type. It hinges on factors or individuals beyond the visionary’s control.
Basing visions of success
If the other person fails, the vision is collapsed
Risky due to out of the individual/group control
While external support can enhance a vision, relying entirely on it creates vulnerabilities that, and the very least, can derail progress or, at worst, entirely implode.
When tonight's mandate is operated effectively, the vision is CLEARER than ever. I declare tonight that the vision for you shall be clearer than ever, your life shall be clearer than ever, your choices shall be clearer than ever. Any sort of vision that is not clear shall be made clear TONIGHT.
